“해외의 벼룩시장에서 구매한 「사진건판(photographic plate)」 속 인물이 누구인지 누가 왜 찍었는지 언제 찍었는지 명확히 알 수 없다. 아니 나는 애초에 궁금하지도 않았다.
그냥 사진의 역사 속에서 언급되는 「사진건판」이라는 자체가 흥미로웠고 사진 속 인물은 이미 존재하지 않을 것이라는 사실과 서로 다른 시간의 만남이 내가 경험한 죽음과 연결된 고리가 있다는 것에 끌렸다.”

"I do not know who the person in the 「Photographic plate」 purchased at a Flea market overseas is, who took it, or when it was taken. Honestly, I was not curious about these details from the beginning.
What fascinated me was the mere mention of a 「Photographic plate」 in the history of photography. I was drawn to the fact that the person in the photograph likely no longer exists, creating a connection to my own experiences with death.“
