《Natural History of Industry》 begins when Choonman Jo visits the Völklingen steel mill in Germany, where the future of Ulsan overlaps and is captured into photos. This special exhibition present in collaboration with Choonman Jo and the Center for Anthropocene Studies in KAIST. "Anthropocene" refers to a new geological age that has been proposed to reflect the phenomenon in which the scientific and industrial activities of humans leave ineffaceable marks on Earth. Beyond whether or not to accept the concept of anthropocene, the word anthropology itself warns of such a reality where man-made objects leave distinct traces in the strata. Scholars cite radioactive materials, concrete, plastics, and even chicken bones as the objects that humanity will leave in the strata. Chicken bones are the bones of chicken that we eat. These are the artifacts that do not exist in nature that will remain in the strata for tens of thousands of years or more. As much as these things, steel is no less than the mark of anthropocene.
